It is almost impossible to watch a game on TV without commentators mentioning confidence, communication, decision making, motivation, concentration, preparation, dealing with pressure, recovering after mistakes, aggression, managing emotions etc. Sport & Exercise Psychology works with individuals to improve these aspects, the mental aspects of performance that can give you an extra 5-10% on the day when it really counts.
Within a team setting, working with individuals on their personal areas of improvement allows for a more fully functioning team, a team able to quickly move on from mistakes/setbacks. Working with teams/organisations to build a shared vision, a culture of excellence and a clear identity ensures every person is puling in the right direction and is fully committed to the cause.
We help athletes in all disciplines to think better, feel better and perform better on a more consistent basis. This allows them to play their very best when it really counts and reach their personal and career goals much faster than they would on their own. Sport & Exercise Psychology is not only about working with 'problem' players, it's about making the absolute most out of what you have got.
Our unique approach uses a blend of rigorous, scientifically tested methods from the academic discipline of sport and exercise psychology and techniques influenced by the area of self-development and improvement. These methods have been used by countless successful athletes and the business people around the globe for around 100 years. It's time to experience the benefits of applying these methods in your life and in your sport today.
There are a range of ways we can do this, most effectively through one-to-one consultation (remotely or in person), through our self-directed online training program (www.reachyourgoalfaster.com) or through workshops at clubs/teams for larger groups.
Our purpose is to develop people and unlock unrealised potential. To assist people to achieve their dreams and help them towards being the best that they can be and at the same time empowering them to continue improving and developing WITHOUT our help.
Psychology has a predominantly negative stigma and I feel this is something as a society we need to address. Maintaining good mental health and self-awareness is key to living a happy and fulfilled life and everyone needs support at times. The purpose of my company is to increase the awareness of positive psychology, to make psychology something we talk about in a more positive way. To allow people to really grow into the person and the player/athlete that they can be.
You can change the way you feel, you can manage your emotions and still keep the fire and passion that leads to your best performances.

Golf is my other main sport and I try to get out on the course as much as I can and I've recently got back into tennis in quite a big way.
